The Degree Gap has been very helpful in tutoring my son for his economics A Level. His tutor has lots of patience, keeps lessons interesting and is a good motivator. The subject matter expertise is excellent.
By the time most Bristol parents call, the Year 12 mock has come back below the offer they'd pictured, and the talk at home has gone quiet around it. Our Bristol A-Level tutors find where the depth slipped and rebuild it before predicted grades go to UCAS.

ALMOST TWO GRADES, ONE YEAR
A-Level results across Bristol pull in two directions. Some Year 13s are chasing the top grade a Russell Group offer turns on and can't get the evaluation marks to land. Others are working a shaky C up into the band a Filton degree apprenticeship or a UWE place needs. Either way, a Bristol A-Level tutor reads a recent paper first and starts from where the marks are leaking.
"My son gained almost two grades higher than his year 13 mock paper. His tutor was excellent."

Yes, because both turn on the same thing first: her predicted grades. Airbus, GKN and the UWE-linked schemes screen on predicted A-Level grades before anything else, just as a Bristol or Russell Group offer does. A Year 12 tutor works on the subjects carrying the weight, lifts the performance behind the prediction, and keeps both doors open while she decides.
It usually isn't effort. A-Level Physics leans hard on the maths inside it and the multi-step problems GCSE never asked for. A Bristol A-Level Physics tutor diagnoses on a past paper, finds whether it's the mechanics, the fields work or the algebra letting him down, and drills the method and the required practicals until the marks come back.
The prediction comes from the school, built on Year 12 and early Year 13 performance. Tutoring works on that performance. A tutor marks recent essays and past papers the way an examiner would, finds where the depth or the AO3 evaluation is falling short, and drills it before the teacher sets the number. And the earlier that starts, the more room there is to move it.
Almost all of them run online, on Lessonspace, a shared whiteboard built for one-to-one work. It suits A-Level depth. Past-paper mark-up, essay feedback and worked problems all happen live on screen, and the session is recorded to rewatch. Online also means a Bristol student is matched with the right specialist or examiner anywhere in the country, not just whoever lives nearby.
