BEFORE THE UCAS BUTTON GOES IN
The conversation we hear most often from Manchester parents starts in Year 12, after the end-of-year mock. The student got 8s and 9s at GCSE and is now sitting on a Year 12 C. A Manchester A-Level tutor reads that paper in week one, finds where the depth has slipped, and the plan from session two builds the AO3 evaluation and multi-step technique the second year actually rewards.

The Degree Gap helped my child go from Cs to As. They have a great selection of tutors who not only assist with the curriculum but also helped with university choices and applications.
Parent
The Degree Gap has exceeded all my expectations. They have gone above and beyond to pair both my sons with the appropriate tutors, all of whom have been exceptional. Both my sons exceeded their expected grades in their GCSEs and A Levels and got into their first choice universities. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Get in touch and we'll connect you with the right A-Level tutor for your child. We'll ask a few questions about their subjects, year group, and exam board — and introduce you to a tutor who fits.
Yes. Both schemes screen on predicted grades first, and a Manchester A-Level tutor in Year 12 is usually what shifts the predicted grade into the band the application stage needs. From there, the work runs alongside subject tutoring through the application year, with technical-test prep added for the engineering routes.
Yes. The EPQ rewards a clear research question, properly cited evidence, and a defended conclusion. We pair students with A-Level tutors who've examined or marked EPQs before, and the work fits alongside the main three subjects rather than competing with them. Final submitted work stays the student's own.
Yes. Manchester Medicine asks AAA at A-Level including Biology and a second science, plus the UCAT. We pair students with tutors who've sat the UCAT, sat Manchester Medicine interviews, and know which subject combinations the admissions team weight. The work runs from late Year 12 through to interview prep in December.
Retakes need a different approach from first-attempt A-Level tutoring. Manchester retake students usually know the content but need to fix what went wrong on exam day, where pacing slipped, where evaluation went shallow. We pair retake students with A-Level tutors who've coached the exact specification, and the work is faster and more targeted than a Year 12 plan.
