Year 10 is often the ideal time to start. The tutor can trace a gap back to where it began and rebuild it while there's still room, rather than cramming in a Year 11 panic. Starting early also means the first mock lands on firmer ground. That said, we take on plenty of Year 11 students too, and there's real work to do even in the spring term.
Usually, yes. Freezing is rarely about knowledge. It's technique: pacing, reading the command word, showing method under a clock. Tutors drill past papers marked the way the exam board marks, so the exam room stops feeling like a different planet. Most students steady within a few weeks of consistent sessions.
We ask which board each subject sits on before matching, because AQA and Edexcel don't set the same paper. The tutor then works to that specification, not a generic version of the subject. It's one of the first things we check, and it matters more than most families expect.
