It depends on the size of the gap. Most Leeds families start in Year 10, once the harder content lands and the first mocks show where marks are leaking, though a Year 9 start suits a student whose foundations already feel shaky. Year 11 still works, and the focus shifts fast to past papers and exam technique.
First session is a diagnostic. A GCSE Maths tutor works through a recent paper to find where the marks are going, usually in algebra rearrangement, geometry, or the longer problem-solving questions. From there the plan rebuilds the topic that broke, and the confidence tends to come back before the grade does.
Yes. We match on specification, not just subject, so a student on AQA gets a tutor who knows AQA, and the same for Edexcel, OCR or WJEC. AQA Maths and Edexcel Maths are not the same paper, and the small differences in wording and mark scheme matter in the exam hall.
