GCSE Results Day Webinar — Terms & Conditions

Last updated 7 July 2026.

These terms and conditions (“Terms”) govern your registration for and attendance at the free GCSE Results Day webinar (“the Webinar”) provided by The Degree Gap (“we”, “us”, “our”), and how we handle the personal information you give us. By ticking the consent box on the registration form and submitting your details, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not register.

1. Who we are

The Webinar is run by The Degree Gap, co-founded by Harry Godfrey and Joe Clark, in collaboration with The Careers People. The Degree Gap is the data controller responsible for the personal information you provide when you register.

If you have any questions about these Terms, the Webinar, or your personal information, contact us at admin@thedegreegap.com.

2. The Webinar

2.1 The Webinar is a free, live online session for parents and guardians, covering GCSE results day and the options that follow. A recording (“the replay”) is made available to registrants afterwards.

2.2 The Webinar is provided for general information and guidance only. It does not constitute financial, legal, medical, or other professional advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from your child’s school, exam board, or a qualified adviser. Any decisions you make after attending are your own responsibility.

2.3 We may change the date, time, format, hosts, or content of the Webinar, or cancel it, at any time. If we cancel, we will let registrants know by email.

3. Registration and eligibility

3.1 Registration is for adults aged 18 or over, ordinarily the parent or guardian of a GCSE student. Please do not register a child using their details.

3.2 You agree that the information you provide on the registration form is accurate and that you are entitled to provide any contact details you enter.

3.3 We may refuse, cancel, or remove any registration at our discretion.

4. The personal information we collect

When you register we collect:

  • your first and last name;
  • your email address;
  • your mobile telephone number (optional);
  • your child’s stated plan after GCSEs (for example sixth form, college, or work), and whether you have expressed interest in tutoring; and
  • limited technical and analytics data about your visit (see section 11).

You do not have to provide a telephone number to attend the Webinar.

5. How we use your information, and our lawful bases

We use your information to:

  • register you and deliver the Webinar and replay to you (lawful basis: performance of the service you have requested / our legitimate interests in running the Webinar);
  • send you Webinar emails, being a reminder approximately 24 hours before, a reminder approximately one hour before, and the replay and related resources afterwards (lawful basis: our legitimate interests and, where required, your consent);
  • send you free resources and occasional updates by email after the Webinar (lawful basis: your consent, given when you tick the box);
  • contact you by telephone or text message about tutoring and your child’s next steps, but only where you have provided your number and expressed interest (lawful basis: your consent); and
  • maintain our records, improve our services, and meet our legal obligations (lawful basis: our legitimate interests and legal obligations).

6. The communications you will receive

6.1 Webinar emails. Once you register, we will email you a reminder approximately 24 hours before the Webinar, a reminder approximately one hour before, and the replay afterwards.

6.2 Free resources. By registering you join our free email list and will receive free resources and occasional updates. You can stop these at any time (see section 8).

6.3 Telephone and text. If, and only if, you provide your mobile number and tell us you are interested in tutoring, we may call or text you about your child’s next steps. If you provide a number but do not express interest, we will not call you for that purpose; you will simply receive the free resources by email.

7.1 Your consent to receive free resources, updates, and (where applicable) calls or texts is given when you tick the consent box on the registration form.

7.2 You can withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any communication sent before you withdrew it.

7.3 We will not sell your personal information, and we will not use it for unrelated third-party marketing.

8. How to opt out

You can stop hearing from us at any time by:

  • replying STOP to any text message;
  • pressing the unsubscribe link in any marketing email; or
  • contacting us at admin@thedegreegap.com.

We will action your request promptly. Opting out of marketing does not remove you from essential communications relating to a Webinar you have registered for.

9. Who we share your information with

9.1 We share your information with trusted service providers who process it on our behalf to help us run the Webinar and communicate with you. These include our customer relationship management and email systems, our telephone and text messaging provider, the platform that hosts the live Webinar, and website analytics and advertising providers. These providers are only permitted to use your information to provide their services to us.

9.2 The Webinar is run in collaboration with The Careers People. We do not share your registration details with them.

9.3 We may disclose your information where we are required to do so by law, or to protect our rights, property, or safety.

10. How long we keep your information

We keep your information for up to one year from your registration or your most recent interaction with us, after which we securely delete it. You may ask us to delete your information sooner at any time (see section 12).

11. Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for functionality, analytics, and advertising, including tools provided by third parties. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

12. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your information;
  • ask us to restrict or object to our processing of your information;
  • request the transfer of your information to another provider; and
  • withdraw your consent at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at admin@thedegreegap.com. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

13. Intellectual property

The Webinar, the replay, and all resources we provide are our intellectual property or that of our collaborators. They are provided for your personal use only. You may not record, reproduce, distribute, or resell any part of the Webinar or its materials without our written permission.

14. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

14.1 The Webinar and all resources are provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not guarantee any particular outcome, result, or grade, and we make no warranties about the accuracy or completeness of the information provided.

14.2 To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your reliance on the Webinar or its materials, from any decision you make as a result, or from any technical failure that prevents you from attending.

14.3 Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version published on this page at the time you register applies to your registration. We will post any changes here with an updated date.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
