On this topic

A practical walkthrough of the day, end to end

Six topics, covered in detail during the live session.

1

The logistics of the day itself

Collection times, how schools release results, and why in-person collection is usually recommended.

2

The 9-1 grades, properly explained

What each grade represents, how to interpret it in context, and why comparisons to the old A*-G system can be misleading.

3

When results are below expectations

A clear explanation of the remarks process, what schools can and can't influence, and how to weigh the costs and benefits of a resit.

4

A-Levels, BTECs, T-Levels

The strengths of each route, and how to match your child's learning style and goals to the right post-16 pathway.

5

The post-results conversation

Practical guidance for the first conversation after results: what to say, what to avoid, and how to focus the discussion on the next stage.

6

Live Q&A

An open session at the end of the webinar for your specific questions on remarks, sixth-form applications, resits or any other concerns about your child's results.

What you and your child will take from the session

The live session is designed for parents. The replay supports follow-up conversations with your child at home.

For parents

Prepared, informed, and ready to support

  • A clear overview of how results day runs from start to finish.
  • An understanding of the remarks process and when a resit is the right decision.
  • A practical framework for the post-results conversation with your child.
  • Confidence to guide whichever post-16 pathway comes next.
For your child

A supportive, informed home environment

  • A parent who understands the result in context, not only the grade.
  • Time to process the result before any next-step decisions are made.
  • Clear information about A-Levels, BTECs and T-Levels presented without ranking.
  • A first conversation focused on the next stage rather than the grade itself.

Frequently asked

How do I watch?

We'll email you the live link 24 hours and 1 hour before the webinar. You can join from any device. No app, no sign-up needed.

What if I can't make the live time?

Register anyway. We send the full replay to everyone who signs up so you can catch up at your own pace.

Should I bring my child to the session?

The session is designed for parents. Many parents choose to watch the replay with their child afterwards, which is the order we'd recommend for the most productive follow-up conversation.

Is it really free?

Yes. The session is free to attend and contains no sales content. We run it annually as a free resource for parents of GCSE students.

What about A-Level results day?

If you also have an A-Level student, much of the framework carries across, especially the post-results conversation and the route-mapping. The university and clearing details are A-Level specific and we cover those in a separate session closer to the time.

Got another question?

Email admin@thedegreegap.com and we'll respond within one working day.
